The New York Times Article: The Broad-Daylight Murder of a Town Brute: Revisiting a True-Crime Fable: A man was shot dead surrounded by witnesses in Skidmore, Mo., but no one was ever prosecuted. Now that act of vigilante justice has inspired the play “Kenrex.”

You remember the story: Forty-five years ago a small Missouri town shoots to death in broad daylight the town bully who had terrorized a five county area by robbing, raping, assaulting, stealing, with immunity for twenty years. Despite sixty five witnesses to his killing and three grand juries, no one has ever been charged with the crime.

My first book was “In Broad Daylight,” published by HarperCollins in 1988, which won an Edgar Award for Best True Crime and  reached number two on the NYT bestseller list for three months.

That was 38 years ago. There was a movie based on the book and several documentaries. Now a play based on the story is running off-Broadway in New York, entitled KENREX, written and acted by two Brits.

The New York Times published a story last Thursday discussing the play and recounting the history of the killing in detail. I am appreciate the extensive credit the Times gave to myself and the book, including numerous quotes and references.

Book sales are over the top once again!
