This is a photo of Trena in her later years, much happier. This obit tells a little more of her life, but leaves out any reference to Ken. Notice she died on her birthday
This is the only photo of Trena that I have, taken shortly after McElroy’s death, when she was still defending him. When I interviewed her in 1984, she stuck up for him for the sake of her children, but I could tell she was growing up and away from him.

I learned today that Trena McElroy, Ken McElroy’s former wife, died on January 28, 2012. She lived in Conway, Missouri, and apparently died of cancer. Although Trena rode with McElroy at the end, she was victimized by him at age 12. I always felt very sorry for her. She remarried in 1983, and, from what I know, lived a fairly happy life. I will find a picture of her and post.
Once Upon A Time, the story of the man tried for murder based on nothing but his daughter’s repressed memory of him killing her best friend, went up as an e-book on Amazon some months ago. It’s been doing quite. It’s now up on Nook.

Remember Frankie Aldredge? One of the few witnesses to the killing of Ken McElroy who told authorities what he saw that morning. In his statement, Frankie said he saw Del Clement shoot McElroy as he sat in his truck. Frankie later retracted his statement after receiving a visit from Clement’s lawyer. The word got out that he had talked, and there was a lot of pressure on him. He was a good, simple man.
Frankie died and was buried a few days ago in a cemetery outside Skidmore.
